Lecturers at the University of the West Indies are threatening a total lockdown of the university’s St Augustine campus on Monday.
Lecturers dressed in red protested the slow pace of wage negotiations at the campus today.Dr Godfrey Steele, president of the West Indies Group of Teachers (WIGUT) said the staff were perturbed by the "promises and platitudes" being offered by UWI without any real offers.

 

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has paid a visit to  David Cameron, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Persad-Bissessar is currently in London attending after a meeting of the Commonwealth Economic Partnership Forum which ended yesterday. Persad-Bissessar is the current chair of the Commonwealth. She visited 10 Downing Street to pay a State visit to Cameron today.

 

Four bullets are still lodged in the abdomen of Bridgemohan Khemlall, who is a patient at the high dependency unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.This morning doctors told the parents of Bridgemohan that internal bleeding had stopped- something that was preventing the doctors from performing surgery to remove the bullets. Doctors are still saying however that it would take some time before a surgery can be done.

Unconfirmed reports stated that more than three prisoners escaped from Guyana’s largest Jail, Mazaruni Prison and several guards are suspended pending an investigation.A relative of one of the guards that was sent home this morning told TrakkerNews that prison officers there are silent about the jail break.
