Sections of society believe that Human Service Minister Priya Manickchand should resign in the face of all facts relating to 16 year old Neesa Gopaul who was brutally killed almost a week now. Some citizens are not taking it for granted that the Minister all of a sudden is making promises and is very outspoken on the girls death. The Minister in earlier reports blamed her staff for failing to follow up on Neesa’s case of which the Ministry has knowledge of an abuse.

Just after 15:00 hrs. on Thursday sections of  Water street  became inundated following an exceptional high tide, with water rising above the wall. Some businesses were affected, others forced to close their doors early. Ever so often Water Street is affected because the particular stretch between Muneshwar and the Mollases Plant, Kingston which is quite low. A high reading of 3.16 meters around 15:45 hrs. was the forecast today according to the local Hydromet office. The weather readings suggested, above normal high tide throughout the weekend into the new week.

The police are looking for Mark De Abrue of 66 Broad Street, Charlestown in relation to murder and trafficking in narcotics.
De Abru is fair in complextion and big built.
Last week the drive by shooting in Charlestown where LIL Mark was gunned down, happened in front of De Abreu’s home.

Today, October 7, the Guyana Bauxite and General Workers Union (GB&GWU) and the Bauxite Company of Guyana Inc (BCGI) turned up at the Ministry of Labour for an engagement with the Chief Labour Officer (CLO), Mr. Yoganand Persaud, for a scheduled 1:00 pm meeting between the parties but the CLO was a no show. BCGI members left the Ministry after waiting for some 20 minutes and was not told anything by the  staff.

this afternoon  said she strongly believe that much more could have, and should have been done to protect 16 year old Neesa Gopaul  by all the authorities, sectors and persons who were aware of the complaints of the young girl.

The Minister said her office has since ordered an internal review of the actions that were taken by her officials following a report that was made that Neesa was being abused.

Cabinet has described Guyexpo 2010 a huge success and kudos were expressed to the management of the event, the Ministry of Tourism Industry and Commerce, the exhibitors, the private sector and all who played a part in making this mega event a success.
Secretary to the Cabinet, Dr. Roger Luncheon said what was a major difference this year is the site segregation which was a catalyst for the huge success.

TrakkerNews on Sunday last carried a story about the deterioration of the railway embankment road at the koker separating Paradise and Foulis. The state of the crater which caved in almost 7 feet, needed immediate repairs to avoid the impending danger to commuters. As was expected, since Sunday nothing was done and the shoulder of the road collapsed almost 10 feet below. Luckily no one was injured.

A mini bus filled with people coming from the East Coast Of Demerara to the capital city early this morning said they are very lucky to be alive.
A speeding car PGG 1339 travelling south along Wellington Street, Lacytown, ignored a stop sign and lashed in to the Mini Bus BHH 3571 which was travelling west along North Road. After the collision the car ended up into a nearby trench and a building.
