Hundreds of devotees of Mother Durga rushed down to the Radha Krishna Mandir at Camp Street, Georgetown to get a glimpse of what many described as a miracle.
A red powder substance was emanating from different parts of the marble murti right in front of their eyes as they chanted bhajans to the supreme mother.
Pandit in charge of the mandir Rudranauth Sharma explained that this is the first time this has happened in Guyana, and it is a way to show that the devotee’s devotion is accepted by Mother.

Neesa Gopaul’s grandfather Mohammed Kayum eagerly approached TrakkerNews on Monday to tell his story which he feels is still unheard by the authorities. As he recalled the events 3 months before his granddaughter’s death, Kayum said that there is so much that she told him which he related to the Police and the Human Services Ministry, which he felt fell on deaf ears. One issue was the drug test which was carried out on Neesa by a private lab.

A female police officer has shot dead two female bandits in Tunapuna a few hours ago.
The bandits snatched a purse from a female vendor and escaped along St Vincent Street in Tunapuna around 1 p.m. today. The officer responded and claimed she was attacked by the bandits. She drew her service revolver and opened fire.
The identity of the bandits has not been revealed as yet.
The duo died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mt Hope while the officer is said to be traumatised.

 

A heavy police presence is expected in Port of Spain today as coup maker Imam Yasin Abu Bakr returns to court to face a murder charge. Abu Bakr and Brent "Big Brent" Miller are to appear before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar today charged with the 1998 murder of Israel Sammy. At the last court session dozens of Jamaat al Muslimeen lined St Vincent Street in Port of Spain chanting Islamic prayers for Abu Bakr. Port of Spain police are expecting another large turnout today.
 

A total lockdown of the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) is scheduled for today. The West Indies Group of University Teachers (WIGUT) has promised no classes, no use of the library and a lockdown of all facilities in protest of what they term a disrespectful wage offer. UWI has offered the lecturers an one per cent salary increase over three years, WIGUT president Dr Godfrey Steele has said.
