The demise of 2 young brothers in Leguan in a car accident has triggered widespread concerns, with emails and postings on facebook this weekend. A senior traffic officer speaking to TrakkerNews on Saturday, raised serious concerns about the breach of the law as it regards driving under the influence, and was saddened at the lost of lives. He said that it is very unfortunate when people have to learn at such a heavy price. There can be no doubt that the driver lost control because of his intoxication, the officer added.

A bad idea. This is how the Employers’ Consultative Authority (ECA) has described plans by the Public Services Association (PSA) to shut down the country tomorrow. The ECA is today calling for the PSA to quash plans to shutdown the public service in protest over a one percent salary increase. The ECA is calling for the two parties concerned to resume talks and avoid a ‘major calamity’.

Police this morning are still trying to get more information on those responsible for the alleged kidnapping of young Alisha McAllister of Wisroc Linden. A police source told TrakkerNews today that some of the statements given by the 13 year old are very unclear and does not add up with the series of events that occurred from the time of her alleged abduction. While not getting into much details of what the statements were. the officer hinted to a possible hoax, but is sticking to a story that something is clearly wrong since the girl was found tied up on a roadway in Wisroc.

Over the past weeks there have been no teachers at Bagotville Primary School located on the West Bank of Demerara. The school has more than a hundred students and parents said that only two Teachers and a Headmistress would usually be there.
The school’s Parent Teacher’s Association visited the Ministry of Education last week and was unable to meet with the Education Minister Shaik Baksh. However Parents were told by the Minister’s Secretary to check back something this week when the Minister is available to meet with them.

The body of missing fisherman Lester Walcott is believed to have been recovered by the Coast Guard today. Coast Guard officers recovered the body today after an extensive search which started yesterday morning. Walcott 46 of Diego Martin was knocked off his pirogue when a Coast Guard patrol vessel slammed into it around 12.30 am yesterday. Michael George and Keith Griffith were also on the pirogue when the accident occured. The duo were rescued alive

President Bharrat Jagdeo told Toshaos (Head of Amerindian Villages) that 8 Million US Dollars out of the 30 Million received from the Low Carbon Development Strategy’s payments from Norway will be available to Amerindian Villages.
The President was at the time addressing the Amerindian leaders this morning at the opening of the National Toshaos Council Meeting at the Guyana International Conference Centre.

The Leader, chairman, members of the Central Executive and the wider Party, of the People’s National Congress Reform, expressed condolence, to the wife, Mara, three children (Misha, Oya  and Osa), mother, Margaret Knight, the other members of  family, relatives, friends, members of the Cabinet, the Democratic Labour Party (DLP), and all of the people of Barbados, on the sad passing, today, of the Prime Minister of Barbados, Hon. David John Howard Thompson, at the age of 48.
