Death Trap Exposes Substandard Road Work
Portion of the Railway Embankment Road along Foulis on the Eastern Corridor, caved in Sunday, leaving a size-able crater in the middle. Drivers plying the route were concerned that they have been driving with imminent danger beneath them. The death trap which is about 6 feet in depth exposed substandard work and judging from the thickness seen, it was inevitable to cave in. In the past, concerns were raised about the quality of construction being carried out on the roadways, particularly the railway embankment, which often deteriorates under pressure.

Fip Motilall says strong public criticism makes him stronger – Amaila Falls access roads will finish on time.
Makeshwar ‘Fip’ Motilall President of Synergy Holding Inc. the company contracted to construct access road to the Amaila Falls Hydro electric project in a private interview today said the biggest challenge of this job is not building the roads but the time schedule, the logistics and taking some 70 pieces of equipment through 206 km.

Man shot dead in drive by shooting
TrakkerNews understands that a man called ‘Lil Mark’ was this evening shot and killed after occupants in a white car pulled up and opened fire.The shooting took place in Charlestown. He was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. Other reports suggest that he may have been an associate to the late Jupiter gunned down a few weeks ago due to a large quantity of cocaine gone missing.

Despite publicly expressed views by knowledgeable engineers that it would be cheaper and safer to construct the Northern Relief Canal at Flagstaff to the Mahaica River, Government is continuing with the Hope/Doch Four Canal Project which is estimated at G$4 billion dollars of scarce taxpayer funds. The People’s National Congress/Reform is concerned that the heavy siltation in the East Demerara Water Conservancy is progressively limiting it’s storage capacity.
The Police Force is being urged to step up efforts in fighting the rising problem of domestic violence
The People’s National Congress Reform in its weekly press briefing expressed concerns about the rising scourge of domestic violence which the party says continues almost unabated despite legislation and NGO’s commitment to help. The PNC/R questions the inability of the Guyana Police Force to respond timely in most of these cases.
Flooding woes will ease along the East Coast Of Demerara- President Bharrat Jagdeo

Residents that faced with the constant flooding along the East coast of Demerara whenever there are heavy rainfalls can now be at relief with the installation of a new outfall channel at Hope/Dochfour the East Demerara Water Conservancy.
President Bharrat Jagdeo who witnessed the start of the project today said the initiative is not just a technical solution to a problem, but one which will significantly change the circumstances of people who have been affected, due to there being no alternative to releasing water into the Mahaica/Mahaicony/Abary areas.
