More than 30 machinery workers attached to Wales Sugar Estate this morning stage a strike action in front of the Estate. The workers said they are being fooled by Guysuco’s management or by the union representing them GAWU.
They claimed that they were told by the Factory Manager Devendra Kumar that they will be paid now by job worked instead of time worked; however the workers said they asked for the change to be in a contract that they will sign but were ignored. The matter was raised with the union representative Seepaul Narine and again no action was taken.

Crime Chief Seelal Persaud , today confirmed that one of the slain men in Monday night’s bloodbath in Stone Avenue, Patrick Goodluck has a criminal record and was a suspect in the execution of 31 year old Mark Ceasar called ‘Lil Mark’ Friday night in Charlestown. The authorities say that Goodluck was charged twice for robbery and murder and was being sought by the police for questioning in Friday’s killing. One of Goodluck’s accomplice was arrested Saturday last. It is believed that the dead man was part of a gang that carried out the attack and Monday night’s killing was a retaliation.

Brian Moore, president of the Co-operative Credit Union League, has taken "great objection" to statements made by Government Senator Professor Patrick Watson yesterday.
