Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon today disclosed that Cabinet has given its green light for the construction of a greenheart revetment at Craig on the East Bank of Demerara to a sum of 64 million dollars. This area was affected by flooding due to over topping in recent spring tides.
Contracts were also given its no objection for several areas at Corentyne, Berbice to the tune of 72 million dollars for the installation of street lights.

More than 30 machinery workers attached to Wales Sugar Estate this morning stage a strike action in front of the Estate. The workers said they are being fooled by Guysuco’s management or by the union representing them GAWU.
They claimed that they were told by the Factory Manager Devendra Kumar that they will be paid now by job worked instead of time worked; however the workers said they asked for the change to be in a contract that they will sign but were ignored. The matter was raised with the union representative Seepaul Narine and again no action was taken.
