Guyanese celebrates the festival of lights- Deepavali
The darkest night in the Hindu calendar, Deepavali is celebrated throughout Guyana today with lights, and lighted diyas bringing the Goddess Mother Laxmi into their homes.
Lighting a lamp or diya symbolizes the destruction through knowledge of all negative forces, wickedness, violence etc.
Happy Deepavali to our readers.
