Georgetown – 2010 US State Department International Religious Freedom Report which was released on November 17th, 2010 cites government’s respect for religious freedom based on its laws which protect the right of individuals to choose and change religions and to their own interpretation of religious beliefs. According to the report there were no reports of forced religious conversions or societal abuses or discrimination based on religious affiliation, belief or practice since members of all religious groups are allowed to worship freely.

 Skeldon, Berbice – The Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) says the Guyana Sugar Coperation (Guysuco) owes the sugar workers a full clear and clean statement on the Skeldon factory and should consider shutting down the factory until its costly defects are redressed.Repair works started this morning on the lone boiler and hammers, in the meantime 800 punts of cane are left in the dock and another 600 punts  are being transported to the factory will left stalled.

Labour Minister Errol Mc Leod has urged employees to fight for their rights.
Mc Leod the former president of the Oilfield Workers Trade Union (OWTU) said despite his current position as a Cabinet Minister he is urging workers to not take victimisation from anyone including the State.
Mc Leod’s comments come at a time when the Public Service Association (PSA) has orchestrated protest action against the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO).
The PSA is protesting the CPO’s offer of an one per cent salary increase for public servants.
