Georgetown Hospital -TrakkerNews was informed that PNC/R Parliamentarian Winston Murray took his last breath just after 19 hrs, this evening, seven days after he collapsed and was declared brain dead by doctors. He was kept on life support as family members prayed and hope for a miracle. Winston Murray gave up the fight, something he never did in parliament and during his political career. He was always known as one of the best debaters in Parliament , inspiring and impressive to his colleagues and members on the other side of the bench.

 Soesdyke Linden Highway- 

The Guyana Defence Force renamed the Drill Square at the Colonel John Clarke Military School at Tacama in honour of Warrant Officer Class Two (ret’d) Patrick Williams. The decision to honour WO Williams in this manner, together with the establishment of a Veteran’s Affairs Office is to recognise its stalwarts and their invaluable contributions.

All sectors of the Guyana Power & Light Inc. were affected by a strike action today on Monday November 22nd, 2010.

A TSTT worker has been fatally shot while installing telephone cables at Mucurapo Road in Cocorite. Dead is 39-year-old Kenny Goddard. Goddard was shot near the Peake’s Gas Station last evening and was rushed to the nearby WestShore Health facility where he was pronounced dead. Goddard was part of a 14-man TSTT crew installing cables when he was approached by a gunman. TSTT is now offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to a conviction and arrest of the shooter. TSTT described the killing as "senseless" and said all security precautions were observed.

This was the assurance given by Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley to former prime minister Patrick Manning today. Rowley said Manning has the full support of the People’s National Movement (PNM) over questions posed to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s about construction of a private home in Phillipine San Fernando. Rowley said Manning is not alone in his quest to get answers from Persad-Bissessar.

Top Cop Dwayne Gibbs says police officers must be paid fairly in order for the war on crime to be won. Gibbs says while salary negotiations are not his responsibility police officers need a sense of worth. Gibbs says police officers could never become rich by joining the service but there work is impacted by many factors including salaries. Gibbs says a response time to crime reports is the first issue that needs to be addressed.

The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) will hold a public hearing with respect to certain services provided by the Guyana Water Inc. (GWI) on Monday, November 29, 2010.

 In observance of International Day against Women, Minister of Human Services and Social Security Priya Manickchand said there will be a signing of a Skeldon Declaration in number 68 village, Corentyne, Berbice. This she said aims to encourage men to pledge their commitment to end violence against women.
