Relatives have arrived to see him, perhaps for a few last moments before he is pulled off the life support which keeps him breathing. Ninety one socially displaced people were taken off the capital city’s streets last night. Municipal police belonging to the Port of Spain City Corporation patrolled through the capital last night in an attempt rid the streets of the homeless. The operation which lasted just over an hour last night was sanctioned by Mayor Louis Lee Sing. Some of the detained appeared before various Magistrates at the Port of Spain Magistrate Court today charged with offences ranging from loitering and possession of devices for the smoking of cocaine.
 

Police just after 14 hrs. Tuesday were on the hunt for 3 suspected robbers who reportedly escaped in a getaway car after robbing and killing businessman Dennis Ramah at a shopping centre in Chateau Margot on the East Coast Demerara. Ramah died while receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to his chest . Several persons are hospitalised with gunshot wounds from the shooting that ensued following the attack when Ramah retaliated and managed to chop one of the bandits. Police are continuing their search for the criminals while they managed to apprehend one, just after the attack today.

 Ruimveldt, Georgetown: Persons who are squatting at Countainer city in East and West Ruimveldt, Georgetown will be relocated by the Ministry of Housing. Subject Minister Irfan Ally told the squatting residents that their area cannot be regularized since it is Government reserve and committees will be established to determine relocation time and areas. Some of the squatters voicing their concerns said they received house lots but were unable to pay the Ministry.

Several victims of illegal wiretapping by the State have signalled their intention to seek legal recourse. Letters were yesterday forwarded to Attorney General, Anand Ramlogan, and National Security Minister, Brigadier John Sandy, by attorney Om Lalla. Lalla, who is representing talk show host Ian Alleyne, wrote yesterday seeking full disclosure from the State on the information they received on his client.

 A London oil company, Tullow Oil met with President Bharrat Jagdeo last evening and finalized arrangements to commence drilling for oil in Guyana. According to information out of Office of the President, the process is expected to start in April next year.
