Police this evening are working on leads to a possible suspect involved in the killing of diamond dealer Joseph Hillaire, whose body was discovered in his home with a gunshot wound to the head. TrakkerNews was reliably informed that based on initial investigation at the scene, the police may have a description of a person to go on.  Initially it was believed to be a suicide since his licensed revolver was found next to the body, but from all reports so far there was no gun powder residue found on the dead man’s hand.

Georgetown-The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Guyana (FITUG), Guyana’s major Trade Union grouping, stated that whilst saddened over the deteriorating relations between the Guyana Sugar Corporation (Guysuco) and the workers’ bargaining agent, the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU), after considering carefully the issues facing the industry and the workers, has no choice but to lend its support and solidarity to GAWU and its members.

NATIONAL Security Minister Brigadier John Sandy has pledged all out war on criminal elements. Sandy made the statement today in response to the recent spike in murders. Sandy has vowed his support to top cop Dwayne Gibbs and said the criminal elements will be hunted down. Sandy said the government will not bow to pressure from the criminals.

PRIME Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar presented in Parliament today all the facts surrounding the construction of her at #1 Estate Drive, Phillipines, San Fernando. The construction of the home came into question last week Friday after former prime minister Patrick Manning claimed the home cost $150 million. Persad-Bissessar sought to clear the air today, as she presented the deed, relevant approvals and utility bills for the property.

ATTORNEY General Anand Ramlogan has warned top cop Dwayne Gibbs to start putting his crime fighting plans into place now because the honeymoon is over. Ramlogan made the statement today in response to the recent spike in the country’s murder rate. There have been almost 30 murders committed in the past week, according to Police statistics. Ramlogan in a press conference today said he was concerned with the recent trend.

Berbice – The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Guydat Joseph c/d ‘Rueben’, 45 years of No. 63 Village, Corentyne, who was found at about 7:15pm last night Tuesday November 23, 2010, at the Kali Temple at No. 63 Village with injuries to his head and hands. He was taken to the Skeldon Hospital where he was pronounced DOA.  The body is at the Skeldon Hospital Mortuary awaiting a PME. Three men have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations
