Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has pledged to provide more assistance to this country’s aspiring writers. Persad-Bissessar made the statement last night during the official launch of a book outlining her rise to the office of Prime Minister. The book ‘KAMLA: Ascent of a Woman’ written by author Rhona S Baptiste was launched last night at the National Library. This is the second book to have been published focussing on the country’s first PM.

Ogle, East Coast– Guysuco’s management has stalled the proposed wages and salaries increase for this week following the ongoing impasse between the Corporation, the Union and sugar workers. Chief Executive Officer of Guysuco Paul Bhim told reporters that workers’ attendance has been at an all time low this year, and this is responsible for the low production. Bhim said there is cane but not enough workers to harvest the crop.

Cornelia Ida, West Coast – There seems to be another unsolved mystery statistic, as Police fail to find those responsible for the shooting of two brothers in Cornelia Ida in early October during an armed robbery. One of the attackers was shot during a police chase, but manage to elude capture. To date the Police say they are still investigating. Bridgemohan Khemlall and Premnauth Khemlall, both in their early 20’s were shot by two armed bandits who invaded the family’s home in October this year.
