This morning Enmore sugar workers told TrakkerNews they will continue to strike until Sunday. 

They said Guyana Sugar Corporation (Guysuco) are offering 5% increase in salary for 260 tonnes of production of sugar. At present the company is producing 194 tonnes and the workers will not accept 5% increase for 260 tonnes. They maintained that if they get 5% the production will be at about 230 tonnes. The strike action started Sunday last and the workers are prepared to down tools until their union and Guysuco can come up with a reasonable package.
 

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is expected to address the issue of wire tapping and spying of law abiding citizens in today’s sitting of Parliament. She is expected to make a full statement on the secret operations of the Security Intelligence Agency (SIA). The units future is also to be addressed. The SIA is reported to have spied on Persad-Bissessar and other public figures over the past five years.

 Fishermen who store their boat engines, nets and other equipment that they use to ply their business in a boxer ramp (Storage room) at Goed Fortuin,West Bank Demerara are calling on the Public Works Minister Robsen Benn to be fair. Fifty fishing boat operators claim they were told that the boxer ramp is affecting the ministry to carry out their works to build a sea dam there, however they were told yesterday by an official of the Ministry that they will make a decision in ten days time.
