If we can run our own country for the past 48 years then we can obviously manage our own appeal court, Chief Justice Ivor Archie said at today’s
ceremonial opening of the law term.
Archie made the statement today in defence of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) over the Privy Council as this country’s final appeal court. The new law term opened with much pomp and ceremony earlier today.

 

Controversial talk show host and political leader of the Justice For All Party CN Sharma was rushed this afternoon just after 2pm to the Dr Balwant Singh Hospital. Sharma over the past three days missed the popular voice of the People show complaining of not feeling well. The Diabetic was in and out of the hospital over the past five months suffering from various heart problems and was advised to seek medical attention overseas.

39 year old Omo Caesar was fatally shot just before this morning broke around 23:50 h yesterday at Dr. Miller Street, Triumph on the East Coast of Demerara. His body bore a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The Police has not given any statement as to what took place and if anybody is arrested for the shooting.
