Policy holders of  the collapsed Clico Guyana will soon receive appoinment dates, implementing the decisions announced by

President Bharrat Jagdeo last Thursday .  Government injected $3.8 billion dollars to ensure policy holders are repaid.

Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh ,in a recent panel discussion stated that government has been engaged at every stage in the process to safeguard the assets of the insurance company and to ensure that they were managed in a way that was consistent with the provisions of the Act governing judicial management.

Cabinet has approved an increase in maternity leave to 14 weeks, acting Prime Minister Errol Mc Leod said today.
Mc Leod made the statement as he addressed the Employers’ Consultative Association at the Hyatt Regency Hotel today. The current maternity leave is 13 weeks.
Mc Leod said Cabinet decided on the increase during a Cabinet meeting two weeks ago.
 

The three month trial of opening the Priority Bus Route (PBR) to the
public ends next week Thursday.
The Ministry of Works and Transport opened the PBR to the public for specific periods in an effort to tackle traffic woes.
The Works Ministry is now calling on the public to participate in a survey to determine how effective the trial period was on its website

Japan and South Korea will meet in the Under 17 Women’s World Cup final match scheduled for Saturday.
Japan defeated defending champions North Korea 2-1 in the second game in a double header at the Ato Boldon stadium last night.
South Korea beat European champions Spain 2-1 in the first game.

Three teenagers armed with hand guns broke into Tommy’s Grocery Shop at 4th  street South East Cummings Lodge just outside of the capital city at about 3 A.M today and carted off with approximately 1M dollars in cash, jewellery and cellular phones.

According to the proprietor of the business place Deo Ramdin the bandits gained entry in to the building by removing the louver windows.
