A father and his two children were almost buried alive following a landslide on the Lady Young Road last night.
Lloyd Guy and his children, four-year-old Isaiah and 21-month-old Kadisha were trapped inside the family’s Sport Utility Vehicle for close to two hours last night.
The trio were dug out of the vehicle around 9 p.m. last night by Fire Service officials. The children were rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital and were said to have sustained minor injuries.

Caribbean Advance Proficiency Examination (CAPE) results have just been released.
School principals received results for the Ministry of Education this afternoon.
Students are asked to check with their schools as soon as possible.

Winston Dookeran, the political leader of the Congress of the People is set to act as Prime Minister while Kamla Persad-Bissessar is out of the country, press secretary Garvin Nicholas said today.
Persad-Bissessar is expected to leave the country today and return on Sunday. She has been invited to New York for the India Day Parade.

Colonel George Robinson says he was not hounded out of office as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM).
Robinson has signalled his intention to return to his substantive post at State-owned Petrotrin, amid criticisms levelled against the ODPM in its response to nationwide flooding.
Robinson says public criticism has adversely affected morale at the ODPM.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service had their best week last week, recording its highest number of arrests, the Police Service’s Public Affairs Unit said in a release today.
The police “recorded the highest number of arrest, issuance of tickets, patrols, recovery of drugs, narcotics and illegal fire arms and ammunition over a one week period,” the release stated.

There is a serious possibility of rivers with already high water levels spilling over, the Meteorological Office has advised. The warning comes on the heels of another day of severe flooding around the country. On Monday the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) produced heavy rain which caused flash flooding and high water levels in several rivers. South and Central Trinidad are already reeling from the devastating effects of the floods.
