Guyana’s agriculture Minister Robert Persaud today said that Guyana has achieved target one of the millennium development goal by feeding half the number of people

living in absolute poverty. The minister made this comment addressing a validation workshop for the Caricom Regional Policy for food and nutrition security at the Princess Hotel.

Businesses in Guyana and different parts of the words will be showcasing what they have to offer when the Guyana Exhibition (GUYEXPO 2010) opens Thursday at the National Exhibition site.

This year the Exposition will be held under the theme “Expanding Investment in a Sustainable Environment”. This is in recognition of Guyana’s growth, continued support and strategy to expand opportunities for investment.

Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Labour Ministry Ashford Sankar is the chairman of the seven-member board.
Economist Hayden Manzano, Industrial Relations Manager Stephanie Fingal, Labour Relations Officer Cindy Joseph, unionists Ozzi Warwick and Ida Le Blanc as well as Reshma Goolcharan make up the board.
The board is to conduct consultations to determine the minimum wage.
McLeod is expected to meet with the board late next month.
