WIPA queries selection policy

Bridgetown.

The West Indies Players Association (WIPA) is questioning the selection process behind the regional team.

Three former captains, Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul have been omitted from a 13 man squad selected for the first two Digicel One Day Internationals against Pakistan.

In a statement  issued to the press, WIPA said while it wanted to see players with potential incorporated into the team,

it should not be at the expense of overall team performance or the obligation owned to the players to deal with them fairly and justly.

"While WIPA is clear that team should be picked on performance, potential, playing conditions and preparedness, it is

concerned that there may be an appearance that there were other unknow factors being taken into account.

If so, all players should be awared of what these factors are", the statement said.
