New guidelines for cash for gold

Bridgetown.

A new policy is being established by the Royal Barbados Police Force for dealers in the gold trade.

Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin, told a new conference over the weekend that  such measures are being implemented because crimes involving theft from the person are on the increase and seems to be linked to that trade.

Dottin said, this kind of crime has caused tremendous difficulty for the Force during the first quarter of this year.

"We have spoken about it , the cash for gold phenomenon.Generally  every other crime of this nature theft of the person that is committed on the street involves jewellery", says Dottin.

" It has reached the stage that the Force asked its Public Information Officer to issue an advisory to the public to be careful moving around the island with jewellery", he added.
