Today is Nomination Day

Bridgetown.

Sixty seven candidates are expected to hand in their nomination papers today at various centres across the island as part of the formal process leading up to the general elections of February 21.

Sixty candidates from the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP) and the opposition Barbados Labour Party will be filing their nomination papers along with seven independent candidates.

A carnival like atmosphere is expected in some constituencies as follwers come out to offer their support. The nominations are scheduled to take place between 10.30 a.m while the centres are expected to be closed by 3 p.m.

The 67 candidates have already paid in their deposit to the Treasury, handing in of their nomination papers will compete the paperword require by the the Boundaries and  Electoral Commission to formally accept them as canidates.
