Update: Bandits killed in Prashad Nagar, one release from prison yesterday

House 222Georgetown: Police Confirm two Bandits shot dead, one critical in Prashad Nagar attempted Robbery.

The shooting occurred around 10:30AM. The two bandits who were killed reportedly by policemen who laid in wait after receiving initial reports that the men were attempting to rob the mining company. The bandits have been identified as Tony Ogle and Leon Gittens. Gittens was only yesterday freed from prison after serving a sentence for break and entry. The unidentified bandit has since been taken to the hospital where he is listed as critical.

Crime Chief, Deputy Police Commissioner Seelal Persaud has confirmed that two bandits were shot dead and another one injured during a shoot out with Police outside a Gold Mining Company office in Prashad Nagar this morning. The mining company is said to be owned by a Bartica businessman.

The Police reportedly received information that the men were heading to the business place to carry out a robbery and decided to head to the area on a stake out. When the armed men rushed in to the business place, the police confronted them and a shoot out began.

Two of the suspected bandits were shot dead at the scene and the inured man was rushed to the hospital where he is said to be in a critical condition with life threatening injuries. Guns have been recovered at the scene.
