Report recommends sweeping changes to the education system

Bridgetown.

There will be an overhaul of the education sytem in Barbados led by the the imlementation of the recommendation of the Alexandra Commission Report.

Minister of Education Ronald Jones told the press after a mass canvass by the ruling Democratic Labour Party in Christ Church yesterday, Jones said the Commission had recommended an ovehaul of the management of education on the island.

"The laissez faire approach to the management, the governance, the over control of education will disappear. There will be an even more firm approach", Jones said.

Speaking to the press at the end of the canvass, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart said the much anticiapated report would be laid in Parliament this Tuesday or next week.
