Prison officers to get stab-proof vests

Port-of-Spain: An agreement has  been  reached  between Prisons Commissioner Martin Martinez, Minister in the Ministry of National Security with responsibility for prisons Colin Partap and officers of the Prison Officers Association on a range of issues which have long plagued prison officers.

Minister Partap has confirmed that an agreement to pay outstanding overtime by April has been reached.

He explained that the delay in payment was because by the accounting department which had some challenges.

He has also confirmed agreement on a new security measure stab proof vests which he says will be provided for all prison officers, along with wireless communication and modern day batons for their security within the prison walls.

Martinez assures that things will be put in place to ensure that the promises are kept and that officers are paid in keeping with the agreement.
