Sports Minister summoned over probe

Port of Spain:  Sports Minister Anil Roberts is being accused of misbehaviour in public office. Mr. Roberts, his permanant secretary Ashwin Creed and special advisor to the T&T Boxing Board of Control, Boxu Potts, have all been referred by the Integrity Commission to the Director of Public Prosecution.

These allegations are in relation to a complaint of alleged misappropriation of funds at the TTBBC. The complaint was filed in 2011 by a TTBBC board member Ricardo Phillip, but he was fired just two days after his refusal to support the process. Mr. Roberts will be given a chance to defend these allegations in an emegency meeting tomorrow.

The probe is considered serious and it is being suggested by head of the Public Service Reginald Dumas, that Mr Roberts should step aside from office until all issues surrounding the matter in question are clarified.
