Moruga residents police killings

Moruga: Police officers were called out to Moruga this morning as residents of the area staged their second straight protest over the police killings of residents Keron Eccles, Abbigail Johnson and Alana Duncan.

As promised on tuesday the residents intensified their protests creating a Carnival-like atmosphere in Moruga as scores of them came out chanting their songs in protest of the police killing.

With more residents joining the cause, the impact of the protest was much greater, with more roads blocked with debris with residents even using an old trailer frame to do the job.

This led to a huge traffic pile-up and even led to the Minister of the People Dr Glen Ramadharsingh being late for an assignment in the area.

The residents were chased off the streets by the police as they sought to clear the area and restore calm to the situation. They are demanding a meeting with Commissioner of Police Dwayne Gibbs.
