Two more murders

Laventille: The country's murder rate continues to rise with the murder of two men today, one in Laventille and the other in Enterprise, Chaguanas.

Police say 18 year-old Laventille resident Kellon Lewis was shot dead on his birthday in what police believe is a gang-related crime. Police say that around 1:30 this afternoon, 18-year-old Kellon and his friend 23-year-old Kevin Carter were in a vehicle driving along Trou Macaque Road when they stopped at a corner. During this time they were spotted by a group of men who opened fire on them.

Lewis was killed on the spot while Carter was rushed to hospital and remains warded in a critical condition. Lewis is said to be the son of a police officer assigned to the Canine Branch.

In Central Trinidad, police are investigating the posibble murder of Sherlock Lewis. Reports are that shortly after two this morning residents at Edwards Trace, Enterprise heard gunshots but did not investigate until ten am when his body was found.

Police are awaiting autopsy results tomorrow to determine the cause of death.
