Lethem guard killed, $4M stolen from RDC

Lethem: John Friday, 43, called Chris, of Culvert City, Lethem, who was a security guard attached to the Strategic Action Service Limited was killed on duty while providing service for the Region Nine Administration.

He was guarding the Region Nine Democratic Council (RDC) Office in Lethem.

Reports revealed that after 20:00hrs on Friday, two unidentified men entered the RDC compound and attacked the guard and his colleague identified as Rudolph Bernard.  They were held hostage as the men were placed in separate rooms within the RDC building. The bandits the broke into the RDC Building and the Post Office with a cutting torch where they open five safes and emptied the contents amounting to four million dollars.

The men made good their escape buy by daybreak John Friday was found dead.  His colleague was rushed to the Lethem Hospital where he was admitted and remains a patient nursing several head wounds.

Two men and a woman who were in the vehicle have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
