Cultural exchange and strategic networking will boost tourist arrivals

VLUU L200 / Samsung L200Georgetown: Plans are moving apace for international bands to visit Guyana during the annual Mashramani celebrations in February. Tourism Minister (ag) Irfaan Ali has reiterated the relevance of extending an invitation to Brazilian, Surinamese and Trinidadian musicians and singers to share in the festivities.

The Ministry sees the hosting of international bands during Mash 2013 as an opportunity for Guyanese musicians and singers to build their network, to share in the culture of others, and to  ‘show off’ the niceties of the Guyanese culture.

Minister Ali noted that this is one strategy that will allow for people to visit Guyana.

“We embrace the local bands, but for the purpose of tourism we have worked hard to bring people from Suriname, Brazil, and Trinidad,” the Minister said.

Minister Ali said that he respects cultures outside of Guyana and that he would not want to miss an opportunity for a cultural exchange that will potentially benefit the sector as a whole.
