Hundreds pay final respects to former Govt Minister Ken Valley

Diego Martin: Hundreds filled the St Finbar's RC Church in Diego Martin this afternoon to pay farewell to former Minister of Trade and Industry, Ken Valley, who died out of office on Friday at his Glencoe home from colon cancer.

Valley had served the country in the MInistries of Local Government, Trade and Industry and Finance and had served the People's National Movement as an MP for Diego Martin Central as a deputy political leader, as a Leader of the House of Representatives and as Opposition Chief Whip.

Costa Rican Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago Ricardo Thompson hailed Valley as someone who had done tremendous work to link Trinidad and Tobago to Latin America in trade and air travel.

His son elder son Kenwyn said Valley's dream was to see this country become an Eden without racial divisions and called on the congregration to honour his passing through efforts to promote more harm

 

ony among one another.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar attended the funeral together with several members of Cabinet, members of the PNM, members of the business fraternity and members of the diplomatic corp.

Valley was cremated at a private ceremony for family members only, following the funeral.
