Customs discover guns, drugs in container at undisclosed port

Port-of-Spain: The Customs and Excise Divison believes it has made a major breakthrough after a container with a shipment of arms and ammunition was found at an undisclosed port.

Customs officials say that between September last year and February 23rd, 2012 police and Customs and Excise officers made several major drug finds in containers at ports across the country with a street value of millions of dollars.

On Wednesday another major fnd of arms, and ammunition was made.

Comptroller of Customs and Excise Fitzroy John withheld details of the location of the latest find but he says two arrests were made and more are imminent.

The arrested duo hails from East Trinidad.

John says everything is in place to detect arms and ammunition.

He however admitted there is a challenge to working with regional counterparts.
