Court to made a decision on Garcia

A High Court Judge will determine if  immigration detainee Raul Garcia will be set free or if his dentention will continue.

Justice Margaret Reifer yesterday ruled that Garcia's lawyers had established a prima facie case of of unlawful detention and ordered a writ of habeas corpus be issued directing the Minister Responsible for Immigration and the Chief Immigration Officer to have the body of the Claimant Raul Garicia brought before a judge of the Supreme Court on October 24 at 9.30 am, in order that the Court may determine whether his detention is lawful or unlawful and whether he should be released.

The order was issued after a two hour presentation by a team of lawyers including David Comissiong, Paula Jemmott and Ajamu Boardi who had filed the application.
