Contractors urge Opposition Leader to return to discussions on procurement

Port-of-Spain: The Joint Consultative Council says it is disappointed with the Opposition’s withdrawal from the Joint Select Committee on the Construction Industry and is calling for a more responsible approach to governance.

The JCC wants Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley to state the Opposition’s position with respect to the white paper and his terms of conditions necessary for rejoining the JSC.

Former president Winston Riley also wants the prime minister and the Opposition to meet with the private sector/civil society group.

They are demanding a more transparent process in the passing of what they call crucial legislation in the fight against corruption.
