Shot taxi driver dies one day later

Port-of-Spain: A taxi driver who was shot in the face on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway on Tuesday evening while working the Port of Spain to San Juan route has died.

He has been identified as Kevin Moses of Leau Place, Laventille.

Moses was shot when two men posing as passengers attempted to rob him.

He put up a struggle and his vehicle crashed.

The two bandits ran from the scene, along with a female passenger and her son who are now assisting police with inquiries.

Meanwhile 24 persons have been arrested in Laventille this morning during an exercise carried out by officers of the Port of Spain CID, the Port of Spain Task Force, the Guard and Emergency Branch and the Inter-Agency Task Force under Inspector Sahadeo Singh.

Police siezed one 9mm pistol, a Bareta pistol, 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition, three magazines, one kilogram of marijuana, and a quantity of camouflage uniforms. The men are currently being questioned in relation to several crimes.
