Barbados and US will maintain strong relationship

Bridgetown.

The Governments of Barbados and the United States have pledged to maintain the strong relationship that exist between the countries.

Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and new US Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Larry Palmer, give this assurance during their first meeting which took place at Ilaro Court yesterday.

According to Stuart, there were strong historical ties between the two states noting, that over the years, the relationship has gotten stronger because of the large number of Barbadians living in the United States.

Palmer mention the need to foster a closer working relationship with the Barbadian community, and alluded to the development of a programme which would provide scholarship as one way to achieve this.
