Workshop for fisheries officials starts in St Vincent today

Kingstown.

A major meeting for senior regional fisheries officials held under the auspices of the Eastern Caribbean Office of the Caribbean Regional Fisheries of the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) begins at the Sunset Shore Beach Hotel, Kingstown, St Vincent this morning.

The officials include chief fiseries officers, directors of fisheries from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominican Republic, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia,St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

They will discuss several issues facing the fishing industry in the region and the use of technology.

The meeting which is funded by the European Union through the Africa, Caribbean &Pacific (ACP) Fish 2 Programme, is aimed at producing an improved communication strategy for the CRFM in line with international best pratices.
