Woman drowns saving husband

Sangre Grande: In a desperate attempt to save her husband, a Valencia woman drowned and her husband, a Sangre Grande policeman is now warded in a critical condition at the Sangre Grande District Hospital.

Police say that shortly after four Sunday afternoon, 21-year-old Sumitra Singh dived into the waters at Yamaha Beach, Toco while trying to save her husband, Constable Randolph D'andrade who had dissapeared under water.

The constable is attached to the traffic section at Sangre Grande Police Station.

Singh also got into trouble and dissapeared underneath. Friends and observers were able to pull the officer out the water, barely breathing. Singh was found sometime later dead.
The couple lived at Valencia.
