Visitor arrivals up.

Bridgetown.

The number of visitors to Barbados for the first quarter of the year were 211,000.

Chairman of the Barbados Tourism Authority,(BTA)  Adrian Elcock  has described, the increase in visitors to the island as an amazing performance.

Elcock has projected a three percent overall growth in tourism at the end of the year if the current trend continued.

According to Elcock, the increase in visitors were due to a comprehensive marketing programme by the BTA in all markets.

Speaking to the media at the Dover Beach Hotel yesterday, Elcock said:

"We have done well, we have been able to deliver over 20,000 more visitors  than for the same period last year".
