Veteran broadcaster is dead

Bridgetown.

Veteran broadcaster Peter Wilkinson died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday morning after a long battle with cancer.

Wilkinson who retired from the Caribbean Boardcasting Corporation (CBC) in 2010, worked as a broadcaster in Barbados and Canada. 

His broadcasting career began with the Barbados Rediffusion Service Limited in the early 1960s, he emigrated to London in the late 1960s after a stint at the London Transport, Wilkinson relocated to Canada and re enter broadcasting with Radio CJAB.

Wilkinson  returned to Barbados and rejoined Barbados Rediffusion Service Limited in the 1980s.

In 1994 he became the "Morning Man" on CBC's 900 A.M, later  he took over the evening slot with a show called "The Big Ride".

He was the brother of noted sports commentator  Sam Wilkinson.
