Georgetown :Minister of Tourism Industry and Commerce Manniram Prashad today told the media that the new Transport Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Devant Maharaj is considering setting up an in transit lounge for Guyanese.
Minister Prashad remarked that he recently met with the Minister and addressed concerns about the hassle Guyanese passengers face when in transit in Trinidad and Tobago for onward destinations. He said the new Minister is considering setting up an in transit lounge so that Guyanese passengers will not have to face the harassment.
Recently at a press conference President Bharrat Jagdeo argued the case for an end to what he believes is arduous in-transit security checks which Guyanese passengers have to endure at the Piarco International Airport while enroute to other destinations.
For many years Guyanese passengers have been enduring this difficulty of going through security checks at other airports, and having to endure the process for a second time while in transit in Trinidad and Tobago.
