Traffic diversion during Rehabilitation works at Princess, Louisa Row Junction

GWI Orin BrowneGeorgetown: Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) continues with the upgrade of sewerage pump stations and the installation of delivery mains under the Government of Guyana (GOG) and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) US$10,000,000 Georgetown Sanitation Improvement Programme (GSIP).       

According to Orin Browne, Project Manager (GWI) ‘pipe laying will be commencing from the Princess Street and Louisa Row Junction on Monday September 23 2013.  Pipes will be installed along Louisa Row towards the end of Cemetery Road and Sussex Street’. 

He further stated that ‘sewer pipes will also be laid along Sussex Street going west to the Sussex and Charles Street Junction’.    

GWI is advising all customers residing in or traversing on the aforementioned streets that there will be minor traffic diversion, breaking of roads and noise associated with the use of heavy equipment.  The utility is appealing to all customers for their patience during the execution of the GSIP.  The Programme will result in significantly minimizing sewage overflows and other problems associated with the sanitation system.
