Trade union leader Lyle Townsend laid to rest

Port-of-Spain: Trade unionist Lyle Townsend was laid to rest today following a service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Townsend was remembered for his unique style and charisma.

66-year-old Townsend died last Friday at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. He had been ill for some time.

His labour comrades shared their last moments with Townsend, who led the Communication Workers Union as President and General Secretary.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Wade Mark who himself came from the bowels of the trade union movement was also there along with Minister of Gender, Youth and Child Development, Verna St Rose Greaves.
