Three held for marijuana trafficking

Piarco: Three Caribbean nationals have been arrested for attempting to import marijuana into this country.

The arrests were made by security officials at the  Piarco International Airport on Carnival Tuesday morning.  

Police say they believe the three were using the cover of Carnival to bring in the drugs.

The three regional tourists will appear  before an Arima magistrate charged with the importation of an undisclosed amount of marijuana into Trinidad.

The three were said to be acting suspiciously and were held at different intervals coming off different flights by officers of the Customs and Excise Department and the Organised Crime Narcotics and Firerams Bureau.
