Stoute re-elected president of the BOA

Bridgetown.

Steven Stoute was last night re-elected president of Barbados Olympic Association for an unprecedented fifth term after defeating fellow board member Lieutenant Colonet Trevor Browne by 34 votes to nine.

The tense showdown that was anticipated at last night  elections at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre never materialize as all but one of the existing ten board members were returned to office.

"This iresult is extremely heartening because that means the federations are satisfied with the work i have done for the last 16 years. I feel very relieved as it has been a very stressful period of campaigning, I congratulate Colonel Browne on the initiative  of coming forward because competition is alway good", Stoute told the press.

Vice president Ralph Johnson and treasurer John Griffith were return unopposed, Erskine Simmon defeated Craig Archer 29-14 to be re-elected to the post of secretary general.
