Minister urge public to assist with traffic congestion

Bridgetown.

Minister of Transport and Works John Boyce has suggested Barbadians plan their routes ahead of time and leave for home a bit earlier, to ease trafffic congestion on mornings.

Boyce told Trakker News while the Ministry has been putting new measures in place to ensure the public is more comfortable while traversing to and fro, the public  can play their part to ensure that they experience less stress while using the roads.

The Minister acknowledged that the Ministry will not regulate the number of cars on the roads.

"Barbadians will not take kindly to not being able used their hard earned vehicles, individuals must therefore plan their routes. I think people can leave home at 6.30 a.m, 7.00 a.m and get into their offices for 8.00 a.m", Boyce said.

Boyce noted that some businesses have already  introduce flexi hours as a solution to help eliminate traffic congestion.

He stated that the Ministry and the Transport Board are currently examining mass transport in the form of the Park and Ride system to determine what impact it will have on traffic congestion.
