SOL Guyana Inc. opens Corriverton Service Station

Sol Guyana staff cutting the ceremonial ribbon to commence operations at the gas station on Saturday.

Berbice residents and the business community over the weekend welcomed SOL and SHELL Service Station in Corriverton.

Corriverton is located about 195 mi/313 km from Georgetown on the eastern side of Guyana, in the county of Berbice.  

Among those present were the Mayor of Corriverton Ganesh Gangadin and Deputy Mayor Krishnand Jaichand and Dr. Jeewan Balram, Senior Doctor of Corriverton.

The symbolic ceremony was held for the opening and business people of Skeldon Corriverton were present.

Mayor of Corriverton Ganesh Gangadin in his remarks at the Ceremony shared some of the aims of the municipality and welcomed the investment made by Sol Guyana Inc and Shell.

He said that Skeldon Sugar Estate was, historically, the bedrock of commercial activities in Skeldon and Corriverton – however, Shell Company and SOL Guyana Inc. must be applauded for their massive investment in Corriverton, notwithstanding the fortunes of the Sugar industry.

He also called on all business and residents to welcome SOL and SHELL and to support their Service Station.

With such economic partners, the Mayor noted, the municipality can only grow.

Retail Executive of SOL Guyana, Ms Renee Armstrong shared the history of the station and the investment of the company in the Corriverton area.

Ms Armstrong also introduced the new dealers to the public. Operations Manager, Mr Fellino, during his speech apologized for the unavoidable absence of SOL’s General Manager, Ms Liz Wyatt who was assisting with the Hurricane relief in the Islands. He also outlined the products that the company would be selling at the Station and wished the dealer well in the venture.

In his comments, Consultant, Dr. Yog Mahadeo shared the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the new FuelSave product that the Company brought to Guyana and Corriverton and invited the public to work in partnership with businesses like SOL in establishing long term benefit to the overall development of the country.

The station was well decorated with the Company colours and the programme content included an entertainment segment in which the public participated in drawing prizes which included free fuel and gas.

The public were also give novelties which included umbrellas, caps, shirts, keychains, mugs, water bottles and tote bags, all branded with the company logo. The executives were also part of the team that went among the vehicles lined up at the road and shared their giveaways.

With the cutting of the red ribbon, vehicles started to line up at the pumps as business commenced at the newly opened Shell Service Station.
