Georgetown : John Jian Xiang, 24 years, a salesman of 45 Robb Street, Bourda was attacked and robbed of a cell phone by two men at Regent Street, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
The police say John Jian Xiang was approaching his employer’s motor vehicle, when he was confronted by the two men. The armed man discharged several rounds at John Jian Xiang hitting him to his abdomen and relieved him of his cell phone, after which they escape.
John Jian Xiang has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital
Meanwhile the Guyana Police Force have upped their security in the commercial areas of the capital city in wake of the upcoming festive season.
Several outposts have been erected along Regent and Water streets with a number of plain clothes police on foot patrol.
