West Coast Demerara : The police responded promptly to a robbery report and intercepted a motor car at Vergenoegen, EBE, suspected to be a getaway vehicle, and arrested the driver. He is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
Last night at Meten-Meer-Zorg, WCD, businessman Jaiprakash Basdeo, was attacked and robbed by two men who were armed with a handgun and a knife.
Jaiprakash Basdeo was in the Saver’s Choice Store when the perpetrators entered and held him up. They took away his personal jewellery valued at $800,000.00, $600.00 US, $320,000.00, two computers and a number of cell phones and escaped in a waiting motor car.
