Promotions on hold

Promotions in the Royal Barbados Police Force were placed on hold yesterday by  Justice Randall Worrell,  pending  the hearing of an application in the High Court on Tuesday,  by 15 police officers who are challenging their ommission from the promotion list.

According to a source, yesterday several police officers were informed by a Staff Seregant in Commissioner Office of a meeting with the Commissioner at Police headquarters this afternoon to received their certificates of appointment, they were told last night that the meeting has been postpone.

Last week, Lia Boyce were promoted from assistant superintendent to senior superintendent and Eucklyn Thompson from the position of superintendent to senior.

Lawyers for 15 dissatisfied officers have filed an interim injunction against Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin preventing him from issuing any further certificates of promotion.
