Private Media leads protest against unfair distribution of Radio licences

Glen ProtestProtest 1Georgetown: Expressing concerns about the recently publicised biased distribution of radio licences, the editorial staff of Kaieteur News (KN) led by Publisher Glenn Lall, took to the streets today in protest mode. Several passersby and equally concerned citizens joined the peaceful demonstration.

Strategically positioned in front of the 24 Saffon Street, Charlestown, Georgetown offices, the KN staffers were soon supported by several other representatives from private media houses including Editor-In-Chief of Capitol News, Enrico Woolford.  Private individuals were also in solidarity with the exercise and did not fail to voice their concerns during the activity which soon attracted the attention of the Guyana Police Force.

The vibrant exercise continued for just over two hours and saw protesters expressing disgust over former President Bharrat Jagdeo’s unfair manner of distributing radio licences.
